Kulisha

Kulisha was a successful project at VIsions Made Viable that provided hot, nutritious lunchtime meals to the most needy students at Kisimu (Kenya) Boys High School. These boys--many of whom have lost one or both parents and who often come to school on an empty stomach--can't afford to buy lunch. Studies in Kenya have shown that offering mid day meals to students significantly improves attendance, concentration, and academic performance. By providing these meals Kulisha helped the boys succeed academically and break out of poverty.

Kulisha's mission was simple: to build school feeding programs that provide nutritious meals to vulnerable secondary-school students, thereby improving their academic performance, school attendance and ultimately their opportunities in the future.  Kulisha operated a successful feeding program in Kisimu, Kenya and served over one million meals to students who would have gone without.  Many of our students have now completed secondary school, performed well on exams and are pursuing university education, tertiary training programs and starting small businesses of their own.
