Vocare Networking Support Group

Vocare (pronounced 'vo-ka-ray') is a project that graduated from Visions Made Viable upon largely achieving its goals .  We are proud of their work because they created a faith based networking project offering emotional support and vocational services for people experiencing the loss of employment.

Lauren Godfrey, founder and director of Vocare, started the project in order to offer sophisticated career development and networking resources 'in a compassionate and encouraging environment that includes prayer support and fellowship for those struggling through the challenges of unemployment.' Vocare support groups meet in local churches but are open to all who seek support. You can learn more about Vocare at www.vocarenetworking.com

Lauren, with years of experience in the corporate world as well as an MBA, wanted to combine her business experience with her faith committment to serve others in crisis. Vocare developed out of a small group she led for unemployed congregation members at her own church. Over the past year the project has expanded and now serves scores of people from a variety of congregations and synagogues in the LA area. Her vision is to expand Vocare and develop support groups throughout California.

Visions Made Viable serves Vocare with short term fiscal sponsorship, administrative support and consulting services aimed at capacity building. Our goal is to help Lauren spin Vocare off into an independent and effective non profit organization. We're excited to be involved with Lauren in such a timely effort to serve people hit hard by tough times.
