Tres Rios
Tres Rios project works in direct partnership with The Abraham Project, a Costa Rican Christian organization located just outside of San Jose, Costa Rica which currently operates two homes for abandoned children, as well as a daycare/school that serves children from the local community. They also offer vocational education classes and various professional services at the community center on the property. Just recently, the Abraham Project acquired more land that doubles the size of property. Their plan is to build more children’s homes, as well as other buildings that will serve local Costa Ricans, missionaries, and short-term mission teams visiting the Project.
Joe and Jennie Westfall, Tres Rios project directors, are a couple from Seattle that originally discovered the work of The Abraham Project while living in Costa Rica 7 years ago. In ensuing years they led other short term mission trips to The Abraham Project, and recently Pastor Jose Gomez, founder of the project, requested they join he and his staff for 3-5 years in order to strengthen their work. Joe is an entrepreneur and businessman and Jennie is a teacher with a master's degree in education. They will help oversee the construction effort, create an English as second language program (ESL), and raise support for the operating expenses of the new and existing children’s homes by developing businesses in Costa Rica that will create jobs for local people and serve as a source of support.
