Pioneer Valley Farm

Pioneer Valley Farm (www.pioneervalleyfarm.net) serves youths in rural Illinois who have dropped out of school. The project enables those young people to gain their GED's, to develop practical skills in operating and marketing a farm, and eventually to find long term employment in the agricultural industry. PVF offers both formal and informal training in basic academics and agriculture with an emphasis on hands on learning.

Dave Nusbaumer--the project director--and his partners have years of experience as educators and administrators in the public school systems of rural Illinois. They all also operate small farms, giving them the unique perspective and skills to create this unique project aimed at reducing rural poverty.
