Prolife Education Project Costa Rica
Prolife Education Project Costa Rica seeks to educate, motivate and organize the citizens of Costa Rica to support alternatives to abortion.
Mauricio Roman, PEPCR director, is a graduate of MIT with masters degrees in both civil engineering and business. He's currently completing another masters in philosophy, works as a civil engineer, and, along with his wife, is raising four children in San Jose, Costa Rica. In addition to all that, Mauricio has published a variety of columns and articles in media outlets around the world, including Catholic Online.
His refreshing approach to supporting alternatives to abortion is thoughtful, respectful and practical and involves a cross section of Costa Rican society including both evangelicals and Catholics, an unusual partnership in any part of Central America.
Mauricio and his colleagues have been deeply involved in supporting alternatives to abortion in Costa Rica for some time, and PEPCR will allow them to take their work to the next level. They plan to develop an organization operated by hundreds of volunteers and thousands of affiliate members around the country. Small and large group meetings, a sophisticated web site, email newsletters, and 'virtual' meetings will allow them to get the word out. Project members will write articles for media outlets and translate useful literature into Spanish. PEPCR will also open a maternity home for pregnant women in order to help them successfully give birth and provide resources and counsel to help often poor, young, and single women become successful mothers and people.
Eventually, Mauricio and his partners want to extend their work via website and publishing to the Spanish speaking community around the world.
In the midst of the 'debate' over abortion that too often degenerates into caricatures, hostility and name calling, we support Mauricio's unique and constructive approach. VMV is glad to offer long term fiscal sponsorship, administrative support and consulting to PEPCR.
